Carlisle, Pennsylvania -- P.R. Hoffman Machine Products Inc., announces the introduction of its Servo RS - 5400 series of double-sided lapping and polishing machines. The NEW 5400-100ST will be the largest of the company's Servo RS line, capable of lapping and polishing parts up to 19½ inches in diameter. The Company shipped the first 5400-100ST D/S Polishing Machine in early 2004 and is now accepting new machine orders.

The technologically advanced 5400 series offers the highest precision possible in a large double-sided planetary machine and is especially suited to thin and fragile substrates. This family of machines uses servomotors to precisely control the smooth, quiet, three-way planetary motions as well as precise, infinitely variable control of down force ranging from as little as 24 pounds to as much as 1-1/2 tons. These design features combined with a new friendly user interface Windows^TM Touch-screen editor to a multi-step machine controller allow for flexible programming of speeds and pressure, optional thickness control, and crash protection.

P.R. Hoffman’s Servo_RS series of machines also include breakthrough asymmetric removal technology, which allows for the removal of material from one side of a part while minimally affecting the opposite side of the product with removal ratios as great as 90:1.

These machines are ideal for double-sided lapping and polishing of 76mm - 300mm silicon wafers as well as for double-side lapping and polishing of other components up to 19½ inches in diameter.
